Louisiana REALTORS® • September 1, 2023

The Louisiana Real Estate Commission License Renewal Is Upon Us

Effective April 1st, 2022, Act 193 of the 2021 Regular Legislative Session became law thereby changing your license renewal period. To renew your license with the Louisiana Real Estate Commission on-time, without late fees, please do so by September 30th.

On-Time Renewals: August 1 - September 30, 2023

First Delinquent Period: October 1 - November 15, 2023

subject to a $50 delinquent fee

Second Delinquent Period: November 16 - December 31, 2023

subject to a $200 delinquent fee

After December 31st, non-renewed licenses will be expired and renewals will be treated as new applicants. As a reminder, current licensees do not need to complete the fingerprint-based criminal history review in order to renew your license.

Continuing Education Requirement:

The continuing education (CE) requirement of 12 hours for license renewal remains in place and must be completed by December 31, 2023.

You may renew your license prior to completing your education. Failure to complete CE by the December 31 deadline will be considered a violation of LREC law and rules and you will be subject to the annual continuing education audit and a possible fine.

Licensees are also required to prove that they have purchased Errors and Omissions coverage for January 1, 2024 – December 31, 2024. This can be done either by selecting the LREC group insurance policy or submitting an Independent E&O Coverage form and a copy of your policy declaration page during renewal.
