Second 2020 Legislative Special Session Called

The Louisiana Legislature has called itself to the second Special Session of 2020 to begin at 6:00 p.m. on September 28th. It will convene for thirty (30) calendar days to consider legislation on a total of 70 items. The call can be found here:

Your Louisiana REALTORS® legislative team will continue to monitor bills and advocate on your behalf throughout the entirety of this Special Session. The following is a list of issues that may arise during this session and that we have identified as most relevant to the real estate industry and you as a REALTOR®:
- Main Street Recovery Program
- Classification of employees and independent contractors
- Tax credits, incentives, rebates, exclusions, exemptions, deferments, and abatements
- Licensing requirements, fees, and permits for certain businesses
- Rural broadband services
- Housing and rental assistance in response to a declared emergency or disaster
- Evictions during a declared emergency or disaster
