We’ve all been following news of the devastating fires in Los Angeles, and our thoughts are with all those who have been affected. As real estate professionals, we know how important insurance is for homeowners whose properties are threatened by natural disasters such as wildfires. With that said, NAR’s latest consumer guide is focused on fire damage and policy coverage. This guide explains which fire incidents are and are not covered under a standard homeowners insurance policy, what to do if a homeowner cannot secure coverage for damage from wildfires, and information on Fair Access to Insurance Requirements insurance policies. The guide also provides contact information for the REALTORS® Relief Foundation as it continues accepting support for victims of the Los Angeles wildfires. If you’d like to make a donation, you can text RRFCAStrong to 71777 or visit rrf.realtor by 1/31/25 to ensure 100% of your donation is earmarked for wildfire victims.
