The National Association of REALTORS® Board of Directors approved changes to the Code of Ethics and Professional Standards policies
on November 13, 2020. The new or amended policies can be grouped into three broad categories:
- Changes to the Code of Ethics’ applicability to a REALTOR®’s activities;
- A new Standard of Practice under Article 10 prohibiting discriminatory speech and conduct; and,
- Revisions to the definition of “Public Trust”.
The full text of the changes, along with a comprehensive FAQ, can be found on the Code of Ethics and Professional Standards Policies page.
After receiving lots of feedback, insights and questions from leaders and members, NAR has put together an implementation guide to review the changes, address common areas of concern and confusion, and provide helpful resources.
Additionally, NAR has been hosting monthly training sessions to provide guidance and an opportunity to ask questions of their policy experts. Click here to learn more and register for the upcoming sessions.
