REALTOR® of the Year Award Nominations Now Open
The REALTOR® of the Year award was first established in 1958 to recognize a REALTOR® who has contributed most to the advancement of his profession and the community at large during the current year. Subsequently, each individual so selected is recognized by the Louisiana REALTORS® at its annual meeting and by the National Association of REALTORS® at its annual convention.
The purpose of the award is to:
- To recognize and award REALTOR® members of the State Association for effort and work expended in the interest of their fellow REALTORS® and REALTOR-ASSOCIATES®, their profession, and the community.
- To demonstrate to the general public, by those outstanding examples, the work done by REALTORS®.
- To point out the qualifications of those REALTORS® best fitted to be considered for leadership positions in organized real estate.
- To foster a spirit of competition among those who are in a position to do the real productive work of the local Boards, the State Association, and the National Association of REALTORS®.

The following standards shall be used in choosing the REALTOR® of the Year:
1. REALTOR® Spirit (25%) - High principles, faithfulness to laws and regulations of the Code of Ethics and local Board, and furtherance of principles of good real estate practice among brokers, salespersons, and the general public.
2. Civic Activity (15%) - Local, state, and national level participation in civic and service clubs, charitable activities, political commissions, fraternal or religious groups, etc.
3. Business Accomplishments (15%) - Recognized good business conduct, service to clients, imaginative and creative advertising programs, rehabilitation work, land utilization, etc.
4. Local Board Activity (20%) - Board offices and committee work, special assignments, seminar activity and education work, membership and offices held in local Chapters of the Institutes, Societies and Councils, etc.
5. State Association Activity (20%) - Offices held and committee work, attendance and participation at state conventions, directors' meetings, educational conferences, etc.
6. National Association Activity (5%) - National offices and committee work, membership and work in the Institutes, Societies and Councils, attendance at national conventions, etc.
Deadline to Nominate: April 24, 2026
1. Each local board, LR director, and state chapters of the Institutes, Societies, and Councils of NAR are invited and encouraged to submit the name or names of nominees for REALTOR® of the Year to the State Association, accompanied by written information and documentation setting forth the reasons for the nomination. Information submitted for each nominee should be based on the standards outlined and should be followed in the same order. The information should be typewritten, should not be prepared by a public relations firm, and should not exceed ten (10) pages in length. A current photograph of the candidate must accompany the nomination form. Nominees submitted after the deadline will not be considered.
2. The current state president and the immediate past state president are not eligible for the award and should not be nominated.
3. No nomination is permitted by a member of the Awards & Recognition Committee.
4. Deadline: Nominations are due in the association office on or before the deadline.
5. The runner-up in the REALTOR® of the Year balloting process shall be an automatic nominee in the following year’s award. The staff of Louisiana REALTORS® is authorized to update that nominee’s submission materials.
6. Balloting for nominees for REALTOR® of the Year shall be conducted by the Awards & Recognition Team either present during a meeting or through a conference call. Absentee ballots will not be considered.
7. Within two weeks following receipt of the nominees, the chair of the Awards & Recognition Team shall call a meeting for the purpose of reviewing the nominations and selecting the REALTOR® of the Year.
Spring Legislative Conference
REALTOR® of the Year recipient will be revealed during the Spring Legislative Conference in Baton Rouge. Nominee's friends and family will be notified.
